For our customers who regularly shop at our Wednesday morning CFM in Palm Desert and wistfully bid us goodbye last week, or heaven forbid, showed up yesterday and found only a leaf strewn parking lot (we tried to let you know – honestly!) there is a shining hope in the not-too-distant future. Though the outdoor PD Market is closed for the season, this week we are officially shouting to the world – we’ll have 2 indoor Markets this summer! Seekers of newly picked produce and artisan food in the mid-valley need not pine too much longer. Come the first week of June we will offer a couple of different places to get your goodness.
Palm Desert – Indoor!
Our newest location will be held inside the Westfield Shopping Mall, 72-840 Hwy 111 in Palm Desert. The first day will be on Sunday June 4th, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Located on the ground level in Main Court, adjacent to World Gym you’ll be reunited with your friends, farmers and perhaps most importantly – your food! This venue is new for everyone and required some “out of the box and into the Mall” thinking to arrange. However, it looks like all the strategizing and negotiation is headed for a big success. The Mall itself actually opens for early bird walking at 7:00 a.m. if you want to get some air-conditioned aerobic exercise before picking up your fruit and veg, with World Gym and The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf starting their day with us at 9:00. The easiest place to park and enter will be under the covered (whew!) lot outside Macy’s and the Mall entrance just beside it.
Palm Springs – Come On Back
We’ll also open for the 6th summer in a row at our tried-and-true Palm Springs Pavilion indoor location on June 3rd, at 401 S. Pavilion Way. For those not in the know, the Pavilion is a city owned community space that in the summer houses Camp Palm Springs Monday – Friday and the Certified Farmers’ Market on Saturdays. It’s just southwest of the Camelot Theatres, adjacent to the Palm Springs Swim Center and Skate Park. The Saturday CFM will have the same hours as always: 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
All The Goodies
Though there will be some variation in participation among our farmers and vendors, you can count on a robust Market in both spots. As always we will accept EBT/CalFresh and offer our $10 for $10 Market Match to provide an even better produce value for SNAP customers. When the WIC and Senior Summer Farmers’ Market coupon booklets are issued, those can be redeemed at both PS and PD locations too. We’ll have live music and special programming throughout the indoor schedule, so you can transition fairly seamlessly from out to in. The summer Markets are essentially like their high season siblings – just cooler.
