Making our local farm fresh eggs the Fresh Pick of the Week is just an obvious choice with Easter right around the corner. Our eggs already come in a variety of colors too, so some of them don’t even need to be dyed in order to fulfill their special role as Easter Eggs! All our eggs come from chickens that are farm-raised with lots of loving care. They are all fresh; many laid just a day or two before you buy them. You’ll love the flavor, the nutrition, and the knowledge that they’re all from local farms.
When you visit the market, be sure to look around wherever you find eggs. There are often lots more kinds of eggs than chicken eggs. You might just see some duck eggs, goose eggs, or even an Emu egg or two! Quail eggs also make an appearance every once in a while!
Did you know: Chickens are believed to have been domesticated in Vietnam over 10,000 years ago. Their eggs vary in color and size, but typically range from bright white to shades of brown, pink, blue, and green. There have even been recent reports of purple eggs being discovered in Southeast Asia. And the Emu Egg, if you see it, will be a lovely shade of blue-green, and as much as four times the size of a chicken egg.
Price: $6 per dozen, depending on the farm.
